The roots of Emprise Bank began in Wichita during 1910 as the Stockyards Bank. Through subsequent acquisitions and mergers beginning in 1965, the Michaelis family owned three banks in Wichita by 1988 - National Bank of Wichita, United American Bank and Wichita State Bank. On January 1, 1989, these three banks were merged to form Emprise Bank becoming a dominant competitor in Wichita's marketplace.
